Francis Reynolds
Francis Reynolds is a contemporary figure and landscape artist working predominately in oil paint.
Francis’ recent body of en-plein and landscape paintings are in response to stimuli, that up until recently may have been over-looked; admired yet not recorded. These paintings attempt to capture the essence of East Anglian, England - flat, open expanses with enormous skies where clouds seem like mountains with nothing to distract the colours and forms.
Francis’ continuing body of figure and portrait works attempt to convey a concern with the human condition, the traditions in which it is represented together with a desire to connect with audiences using a subject-matter that conveys multi connotations through colour and scale in conjunction with methodology.
We are all human. We all experience various happenings within our life-time; good and bad. Yet, we all bare the marks of these experiences, even if they are not all visible. Those experiences drive us forward; we evolve with change. We grow through knowledge; passed on by others and from our own involvements with life. Particular events may mark us and have a lasting effect, which we assimilate into our life. It is only upon reflection that we become aware of how and why these happenings and influences shape the way we are.
