Presentiment is part of an ongoing series of paintings that attempt to convey a continuing concern with our human condition. It is also direct response to the Covid-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdowns that people around the world have had to endure.
The sense and/or reality of being isolated from people and loved ones has been something that we could not have envisaged, may not have experienced and something we possibly took for granted; the freedom, the need to embrace, to be near and/or close to one another.
We are all human. We all experience various happenings within our life-time; good and bad. Yet, we all bare the marks of these experiences, even if they are not all visible. Those experiences drive us forward; we evolve with change. We grow through knowledge pasted on by others and from our own involvements with life. Particular events may mark us and have a lasting effect, which we assimilate into our life. It is only upon reflection that we become aware of how and why these happenings and influences shape the way we are.
